Located in North Brookfield, Massachusetts, the Quabaug Corporation was founded in 1916 by Herbert Mason. Named after an ancient local American Indian tribe, Quabaug produces technologically advanced shoe soles for a variety of uses. The company's history is filled with successes in innovation.

In 1937, soles manufactured with a DuPont innovative synthetic material called Neoprene were introduced to the market. In 1945, Quabaug received a prize from the American Army and Navy for the quality of its military products.
In 1961, they manufactured the first one piece sole, which was easier to manufacture and more convenient for the client. In 1962, Quabaug introduced the Hypalon, a DuPont synthetic material that was non-marking and had beter resistance to wear than the standard at the time, making it perfect for use in casual shoes.

In 1965, Quabaug became the exclusive manufacturer and licensee of Vibram soles in the United States.
In 1967, they introduced Nitrile, a compound resistant to oils, guaranteed for the entire life of the shoe.
In 2002, Quabaug acquired the the Soles Division of the Biltrite Corporation. Quabaug now has more than 300 employees and is committed to developing new designs.
