For 15 years Vibram has been involved in granting both a technological advanced production and an eco-sustainable conduct.

RECYCLE

  • In 1994, when it launched Vibram ECOSTEP®, Vibram pioneered the use of ecological materials.Vibram ECOSTEP® and its empowered version Vibram ECOSTEP+® include up to 30% and 50% of post-manufacturing recycled rubber while maintaining traction and durability standards for lifestyle products.
  • During the following years Vibram extended its environmental efforts to EVA products. Nowadays it uses 10% recycled EVA from EVA midsole flash.
  • Also the Vibram North America production site supports the recycle policy and has developed a full line of flooring products based on 100% recycled rubber .

 

 

LIFEGATE - ZERO IMPACT® PROGRAM

Vibram has joined forces with LifeGate’s Zero Impact® environmental program.

Zero Impact® helps compensate CO² emissions generated by our booth setting-up operations at international tradeshows by planting trees in different locations in the world.

  • Outdoor Friedrichshafen 2009 booth: 6.118 square metres new forest planted in Costa Rica
  • Ispo Munich 2010 booth: 10.256 square metres new forest planted in Madagascar
  • Outdoor Friedrichshafen 2010 booth: 5.118 square metres new forest planted in Madagascar.

 

RENEWABLE ENERGY

  • Vibram is interested in all the advantages rising from renewable energy. This attitude is proved by the brand new VTC (Vibram Technological Center) in Guangzhou (China), committed to protect the environment through the use of solar panels and water heaters.
  • Since the beginning of 2008 Vibram U.S. has supported the development of wind energy through the purchase of wind RECs (Renewable Energy Credits). These credits for wind energy are the means to precisely quantify the level of support for wind projects. For example, new wind farms increase energy security, create jobs and contribute to the regional economy.
  • A touch of green can be found also in the participation to the Alpines' AUC pro Uganda charity project, with Vibram paying for the realization of solar panels to be installed on Santa Clelia Primary School in Kitanga.
