Vibram MTB-X has been developed for mountain biking on all types of terrain. The aggressive design guarantees optimum traction on muddy surfaces. Produced with the Vibram Trek compound and equipped with removable mud and ice cleats, MTB-X is used on winter shoes designed to tackle extreme conditions. Other technical features of the sole include:

- treads on the ball of the foot for better grip on uneven terrain
- wide mud and snow evacuation channels for increased traction and stability
- removable plates to which the automatic pedal coupling system can be attached
- form shaped to encourage rolling
- flexion lines that facilitate walking
